Can you live without a fridge?

Arrggh….my fridge has been broken for 3 days now. All my food went bad. I and my roommates have called the maintenance department for couple times to no avail. Finally, he came today to fix it. The bad news is that it can’t be fixed anymore since my refrigerator was so old. So, what he’ll do is replacing it with another one. The problem is that the  fridge is in one piece with the sink, so in order to remove it and replace with another one, he has to cut it out and stick the new fridge back in. Sigghh….I don’t know how long it’s gonna take to do that.

He said that he’s gonna come back again in an hour or so, with the new fridge. Don’t know if he’s going to yank the old one out today or tomorrow. I don’t care, I just want my fridge back so I can store things there (can you sense the frustration here? LOL). I have been living with ramen and can food these past three days. I guess I could go out and eat, but I just didn’t want to spend more money for that.

One thing I learned is to be content for everything. It is just a mere fridge, it’s not something that I can’t live without. Sometimes we were being so dependant with techonology and the conveniences around us that we take many things for granted, like your computer and Internet that you were using right now. Can you live without computer and Internet that you are always using and be in front of everyday? I don’t know, it must be really hard for some of us. Can you live without microwave? Can you live without air conditioner (AC)? the bottom line is be thankful for what you had.

Second, always be ready with can food and ramen, because you’ll never know when you will need them the most. 🙂

I hope you have a great day. Talk to you later.

  • I’ve learned to live without watching TV. I couldn’t live without books, but that’s not technology, unless it’s on Kindle. I currently live without Twitter. I hope your new fridge has arrived. 😀

BTW – Steven, I tagged you with the 6 Random Things Meme. I look forward to reading your response post here… Take care.

Marissa’s last blog post..I Got Tagged And I Didn’t Even Feel It

  • It’s already arrived two days after I posted this post 🙁 the problem is that it’s smaller than what I had before, and there’s no fridge box in it. I guess I have to live with it for now.

  • WOT?A fridge that is one piece with a sink??Never heard of that here!
Steven, I could live without microwave (don’t need that, always eat the fresh food),and no air con here,in Bali.
I guess I could suggest you to try to cook some simple “tumis sayur” that certainly don’t cost much if you buy fresh green vegetable in supermarket. Buy only for 2 portions (lunch & dinner), couples of tomatoes, masak rice, do you have tempe/tofu there? It’s healthier, yet affordable, so you won’t need to store too much frozen food in your fridge…:) Anyway, just a suggestion, hope it’ll be good for you. GBU!

  • Yeah…I know it’s kinda weird. Refrigerator + Sink = a mess. hhahaha

I do cook fresh foods. I need the fridge to store chicken, and any other meat there. Since I like rice a lot (maklum lah yah…namanya aja orang Indo), I always cook rice almost every day. Sometimes, I tumis2 some sayuran (I love vegetables), but mostly I cook soup though. There is tofu here, but I can’t find any tempe. It would be great if I can find one.

Well…at least I have a refrigerator now. even though it’s a small one, I’m still thankful for it.
