I have been using Twitter for almost 2 weeks now. What do I think about it? (you may ask) I think it’s really great. It was like having streaming of information 24/7. You can know your friends better by know what they are doing, you can make more friends by following other people’s twitter, you can promote and share your idea (or blog post), and you can learn so much from others about so many things.
My principle in using Twitter now is to socialize and learn. Although Twitter can only give you so called “virtual friends,” it’s still a great tool to make new friends. On top of that, you are not just following your friends, you can also learn what other people say about things, such as internet marketing, blogging principle, how to handle life, technology, etc.
HOWEVER….how can you be a better Twitter-“er”? @MariaSmart recommended me TweetDeck
TweetDeck is a Twitter desktop program that you can install on your computer to follow your Twitter activities. You can track a lot of things with this program, all friends, direct messages, and replies, are some of them. Do you think you can be a better Twitter-“er”? Absolutely. With this you can track all your Twitters in one place even when you are not visiting twitter website, or loading your iPhone Twitter application. It’s almost like an email program than can notify you anytime you have anything going on your twitter.
Let me know what do you think about this program? Are you a better Twitter-“er” now?
Yes, I think over the years I became a better twitter now. My company uses that intensively and during Ike when there was no internet, we could still keep in touch via twitter through our cell phone(and this can be from a regular cell phone to an I-Phone).
I also use twitter to learn a lot about technologies, to get bible verses, to learn about diet stuff and to get news. On my tweetdeck, i have four columbs.
1.Family(thats my company, mom and boyfriend)
2.Learn Something(All sorts of geek people posting about tips on java, Jquery, C#…you name it)
3.Friends/teachers/Verses(thats you and other PCC people and teachers and bible verses
4.News (BBC,CNN,Africa News…indo news if I find one :P).
I made my mom join it and she really enjoys keeping track of me even if I am not at home and she is in Finland and i am in Texas….so here’s the benefit. Hopefully more people can join 😉

@MariaSmart It’s really cool that your company was using Twitter for emergency alert. I’ve never thought about that.
It is really amazing to see how people are using Twitter now. Twitter has become an integral part of social networking. It is like a glue that holds our social networking together.
Twitter’s usage now has been so vary, starting from only for personal status update, share interesting stuff, notify followers for new blog posting, even more sophisticated usage by using Twitter for poll, event invitation, and even research tool (see http://twtapps.com for detail) Can’t wait to see how Twitter play an important role in our society several years down the road.
