I want to reassure you that God is still in prayer business. It has been almost a year that I prayed asking God for a car. However, HE hasn’t given me yet. God has graciously provided me with the money (my parents helped me too here), but I just haven’t found the right one yet. I was asking God, “Abba, if it is according your will, I want to have a car that matches my dream.”
I found several cars that are “good” enough. That’s what I did when I had my first car. Since I really needed it back then, I force myself to buy a ’97 Honda Civic EX 2dr. I don’t really like 2dr, but since it’s cheap and I really needed it, I bought it anyway. It was a good car, but I just want something that I really like this time for my 2nd car. FYI, I sold my car when I moved from CA to FL.
Here’s what I want from my 2nd car:
- I want a larger car than Honda Civic, preferably Honda Accord. I really like Honda because it is a gas saver. And, it has to have 4dr. I don’t really like 2dr because it’s really hard to bring people along or put stuff on the back seat.
- I want a black car. I know black car is harder to maintain, but I just think that black car is really cool 🙂
- Since my old car has a sunroof, I want my 2nd car to also have sunroof. Why? because I can save a lot of gas by just relying on the airflow from sunroof instead from the air conditioning.
- If I have a car, I want to put an audio head player that can play MP3 songs. My old car can only play audio CD. As you know, audio CD can only contain about 15 songs, so my car is packed with CDs before. To reduce the amount of CD, I prefer audio MP3 CD which can contain hundred of songs in one disc.
I prayed to God about these “wish list” of mine. I’m just hoping that God can grant my wishes. I have been waiting and waiting for about a year, looking for this “perfect” car.
On Saturday, Jan 24th, I found an ad in Craigslist.org about “2002 Honda Accord SE.” I’m interested with the car, so I email the seller to get his address, so I can look the car. It was little bit discouraging me knowing that his place is 1 hour driving from my place (Pensacola – Forth Walton Beach), but I managed to ask my friend if he can give me a ride there. Fortunately, he agreed to take me there.
We got there to the military complex (the seller is in the army apparently). We got the entry pass to enter the complex, and we are finally able to see the car. To my surprise, the car was exactly like what I had wished for, even better I think. It’s 2002 Honda Accord, black, has low mileage (80k), got sunroof, 4dr, and the price was really reasonable, $6000. After I prayed in my heart asking God if this is “it” , I finally had the piece to close the deal. I was so happy that God finally answered my prayer. I just have to wait for HIS time. In fact, several months ago, I almost bought a 2001 Honda Civic LX for $5500. It was nothing compare to this Honda Accord. Plus, for $500 more, I can get 2002 Honda Accord SE instead of 2001 Honda Civic LX. If I wasn’t being patience and waiting for God’s timing, I will not get this Honda Accord.
Btw, in our way back home (I was already driving my new car 🙂 yiipppeee), my friend just notify me that the audio player can also play MP3 songs. I said, “Wow…God has been so good. HE really answered all my prayer. All the things in my wish list were granted.” Praise the Lord. It’s amazing to see how God works. Sometimes, I feel really guilty in front of God. I sinned a lot, I’m being disobedient to God sooo many times, I disappointed HIM in many areas, but still….God is still faithful to me.
I just want to share this story with you to remind you to wait upon the LORD. It will be worth it. Trust me. In my story, it’s just a simple wish, a car. You may wait for something really big, like a child, a job, a wife/husband, etc. Don’t worry God has HIS own timing.

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven.

@Michaellin so true. Sometimes we think that God answers “NO” when HE actually answers us “WAIT”.
@Easton your welcome, Easton. Hopefully it can be a blessing to you.
Hey Steven, that is awesome and the car too 😉
Thanks, Kenny! Thank you for giving me a ride there. Without you, I will not get this car. It’s really awesome to see how God uses people around us to be a blessing.
